Ideally, seek intervention early in the course of the disease. This will ensure the best outcome. Skin complaints in your pet can be difficult to manage, and advanced training is required. Our objective is to supplement the capability of your primary care vet by providing additional expertise in veterinary dermatology, and to keep them involved.
Dr Daniel Mitchell is a vet with 17 years of experience in treating diseases of dogs, cats and small pets. He is a Professional Interest Practitioner in Veterinary Dermatology and accepts referrals from other veterinarians and direct enquiries from clients also.
Dr Mitchell has completed significant training in Europe over 3 years under supervision from the world’s leading veterinary dermatologists. This training has been completed at the University of Vienna (Austria) and he will soon sit examinations through the University of Luxembourg. He continues to study dermatology to stay up to date with the latest techniques, and regularly attends conferences locally and abroad to complement this knowledge.
Dr Mitchell is closely connected to local veterinary specialists in all fields, and this allows for their input to your pet’s case as required. Beyond our local experts, he is well connected to an overseas network of dermatology, surgery, medicine and pathology disciplines. This can be especially useful if your pet has an unusual or very rare skin condition as a platform for sharing information to achieve the best outcome for your pet.

From the initial consultation, you will be well informed. The initial consultations can be quite thorough – involving a very detailed history collection, examination and skin sampling, to enable diagnosis. You will have clear expectations of the short, medium- and long-term treatment plan, and will leave each consultation with detailed, easy to understand instructions.
Follow up visits may be required and these can be organised at relatively short notice. We will ensure we are contactable shall you need urgent assistance.
Between visits, details can be clarified and concerns resolved easily over the telephone. This will resolve any confusion with treatments prescribed and optimise progress between visits.
