LOOK! NEW!

A brief intro to dog skin allergy, infections and solutions:

The video below is a draft of an informative video (uploaded 4/10/25). It’ll be completed mid Oct 2025.
The video is intended to explain how the allergic response works, why the itching and infections develop, and what can be done in the short-, medium-, and long-term to make your dogs life the best it can be.
We hope you enjoy this taster video – it is the first of a small bunch of informative videos like this.

An initial 50-70 minute consultation is $350.00 (includes GST). Our standard booking for your initial visit will be for 70 minutes. That is generally the time we need to complete the consultation process. You can request longer consultations if you wish – just let us know when booking.

The initial visit involves a detailed review of the case history, a complete dermatological examination and in-house lab work (this is completed immediately on site). Samples for external assessment (blood, swabs, hair or tissue samples) may be collected.

Most importantly, the visit involves a detailed explanation of the disease processes, prognosis, and treatment options.
At the end of your visit you will receive a detailed typed case summary and thorough treatment plan. This will be printed during the visit and explained thoroughly. We will also email it to you and vet.

We can also provide all the medical treatments you need to start treating your pet. We try to make the treatment financially sustainable, discuss all costs with you upfront, and won’t have you coming back in a short space of time unnecessarily. We try to involve your local vet as much as possible, especially if you come from a long distance.

Please note: medications, laboratory fees, and surgery fees are additional to our professional fees.

The earlier, the better! But it is never too late. We can always have a positive impact, to any case, no matter how complex or severe.
Skin complaints in your pet can be difficult to manage. We will do our very best to get you a diagnosis promptly, and get treatment underway that is safe and effective.

Dr Daniel Mitchell is a vet with 23 years of experience in treating diseases of dogs, cats, and horses. He is a Professional Interest Practitioner in Veterinary Dermatology and accepts referrals from other veterinarians and direct enquiries from clients also.

Dr Mitchell has completed significant training in Europe over 3 years under supervision from the world’s leading veterinary dermatologists. This training has been completed at the University of Vienna (Austria) and he completed his certification through the University of Luxembourg. He continues to study dermatology to stay up to date with the latest techniques, and regularly attends conferences locally and abroad to complement this knowledge.

Dr Mitchell is closely connected to local vets and veterinary specialists in all fields. This allows for their input to your pet’s case as required. Beyond our local experts, interstate and overseas dermatology contacts can often be useful if your pet has an unusual or very rare skin condition as a platform for sharing information to achieve the best outcome.

From the initial consultation, you will be well informed. The initial consultations can be quite thorough – involving a very detailed history collection, examination and skin sampling, to enable diagnosis. You will have clear expectations of the short, medium- and long-term treatment plan, and will leave each consultation with detailed, easy to understand instructions.

Following our consultations, we will do our best to make ourselves available for you for case support. We need to ensure that you have a smooth run with your treatments so we achieve the best outcome. Follow up visits can be organised at relatively short notice, and very urgent re-visits will be prioritized.
